PLAN A - Contributor Access
There are a few steps to follow to post a Letter to the Editor. This may seem a bit inconvenient, but is necessary to ensure that all letters meet the specified guidelines and to allow you access to the site as a contributor. That being said, happy writing - and we look forward to hearing from you!
1. Email the Banner administrator at hbanner@rrv.net. Include your name, address and email along with the request for Letter to the Editor Contributor access.
2. After processing the request, you’ll then receive an email inviting you on behalf of the Banner to create a free account with WordPress.com, the host of our online Banner. A person has the option of either creating just a user account for the purpose of posting a letter, or to create your own blog account. Either is fine for the purpose of submitting a letter.
3. After your account is established with WordPress it will then be set up for you to have Contributor access to the Letters portion of the website. An automatic message will be sent to your email account directing you to follow the page link. If you are not automatically logged in, you will need to log on to www.wordpress.com & log in with your user name and password that was sent to your email address.
4. At the top of the Letters page you will now have access to your Dashboard and New Posts. Go to either to write and save your Letter to the Editor. Be sure to include your name, city and state with the letter.
5. After you save your letter, the administrator will then approve and publish for public viewing.
Please note that after you have once established a WordPress account, you won’t have to repeat steps 2 & 3, so long as your email address remains the same. For all future letters, simply email the administrators requesting Contributor access. Access is granted on a per letter basis.
PLAN B - Just Send It
Not into the techy and don’t care to have Contributor access? Just email your Letter to the Editor to hbanner@rrv.net - be sure to include your name, address, city and state - and we’ll take care of the rest!
